Meet your new TV obsession: Netflix’s new original series “Marco Polo.”
The streaming service is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the production with a new video featuring star Lorenzo Richelmy, who plays the 13th century merchant and explorer who spent many years in China.
“Marco had this passion for people and cultures,” Richelmy says, “and he falls in love with this amazing world.”
Also in the video are creator John Fusco and exec producer Daniel Minahan, who explains that Marco’s adventures in China really begin when his father basically trades him as part of a business deal with Kublai Khan.
“Marco’s story is legendary,” Minahan says in the video. “It’s also so fascinating because it is partially legend and partially historical.”
I’m betting the producers took much creative license to tell Marco’s “true” story, but I’ll still be watching come Dec. 12 when the 13-part series premieres on Netflix.
How about you?
