Children trained their eyes north up Main Street hoping to catch that first glimpse of Santa Claus as he made his way Saturday morning from Pointe Plaza to the Courthouse Square.

Bundled in jackets and mittens, and some wearing Santa Claus hats of their own, youngsters eagerly bounced around, stepping off the curb into the blocked street for a quick glance.

Anticipation turned into applause and waves as the Crown Point fire truck transporting a waving Santa Claus came into view.

Lilah Stimac, 4, waited patiently with her dad Steve for Santa to arrive. The Schererville family, including Grace, 6, Stella, 2, and mom Kara, where enjoying the mild weather for their first Santa parade.

“It’s a nice day with good weather and something fun for the kids to do,” Steve Stimac said.

It was the second year Crown Point residents Michelle Kreglow, her fiancé, Tim Hollandsworth, and their children, Collin, 7, and Molly, 3, came out to enjoy the parade. Kreglow said the family enjoys taking advantage of the different events on the square.

“We really like it. We like to be part of the community,” she said.

Collin gets the chance to see his classmates when his family comes out to the events, something the youngster enjoys.

“I like to see my friends.”

While Collin said he was not going to get a chance to sit on Santa’s lap Saturday, he is ready to share the secrets of his Christmas wish list when he does.

“I know what I want,” he said, adding it would be too much to disclose. “I have a lot on there.”
