A Skokie man charged with sexually assaulting a Waukegan child in her home after meeting her online has been scheduled for trial Feb. 23.

Brian Rocuant, 30, is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault involving a child under the age of 13, a Class X felony, and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a victim under the age of 13, a Class 2 felony.

Rocuant met the girl in an online chatroom, and on Feb. 20 of this year, allegedly went to her home in Waukegan where he fondled and sexually assaulted her, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Grindel.

Waukegan police were notified while Rocuant was still at the house, Grindel said, and he was arrested at the scene.

He has remained in Lake County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond since his arrest.

At a brief hearing Tuesday in Lake County Circuit Court, a Jan. 6 pretrial status hearing was scheduled for Rocuant.

The Class X felony carries a potential prison sentence of six to 30 years in prison upon conviction. A Class 2 felony carries a sentencing range of three to seven years, but is also probational.
