Chicago police issued a community alert after several holdups this month on the South Side.

In each case the suspects approached victims and displayed a handgun and demanded property, police said.

The first armed robbery happened in the 0 to 100 block of East Garfield Boulevard

at about 5 a.m.

Jan. 7.

The second robbery occurred in the 5100 block of South Ingleside Avenue

at about 6:15 p.m.

Jan. 9, police said.

One of the suspects is described as a black male between 16 and 25 years old, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet, 150 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a red hoodie and red shoes.

The second suspect is described as a black male 16 to 25, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet and weighing about 145 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie.

The third suspect is also described as a black male 20 to 25 years of age, about 6 feet tall and weighing 140 to 160 pounds.
