Police are alerting residents and business owners the North Side to two robberies in the Park West and Lakeview East neighborhoods.

An attacker armed with a small revolver entered businesses and demanded money from the cash register in the two incidents, which happened Saturday and on Jan. 9, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.

The latest robbery took place around 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of North Broadway, according to the statement.

The suspect is a black man, 40 to 45 years old. He is about 5 feet 10 inches and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket over a gray-hooded sweatshirt, a tan trapper-style hat, bluejeans and white gym shoes, according to the statement.

The first incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 700 block of West Fullerton Avenue.

The suspect was then described as a black man 45 to 50 years old. He was wearing partially faded bluejeans, a black jacket, white gym shoes and a red and gray plaid trapper-style hat.

Police urge business owners to get a working video surveillance system and alert neighbors to these crimes.
