Hunter safety: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has a hunter safety Internet-completion course from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 7 at Bass Pro Shops in Dania Beach. Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. An adult must accompany children under 16. Billfish tournament: The fourth annual Jimmy Johnson National Billfish Championship is March 18-21 out of The Big Chill in Key Largo. Fishing is March 20-21. Entry fee is $4,500 per team. Visit questforthering.com or call 305-255-3500.

Sailfish seminar: Capt. Bouncer Smith has a seminar on fishing for sailfish from 6:30-8 p.m. March 19 at Dusky Sport Center, 110 N. Bryan Rd., Dania Beach. Cost is $15 and redeemable for merchandise. Call 954-922-8890.

Snakehead tournament: A Snakehead Round-Up Numbers Only tournament is safe light to 2 p.m. March 7 out of Veterans Memorial Park, 7044 NW 1st St., Margate. Entry fee is $10 per angler. Call 754-816-2248.

Pet amnesty: The annual Exotic Pet Amnesty Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 7 at Zoo Miami at 12400 SW 152 St. People can surrender any exotic animals they have been keeping as pets with no penalties and no questions asked. The animals will be checked by a veterinarian and made available for adoption that same day by experienced individuals who are capable of caring for them. Domestic animals will not be accepted. Nature walks: Miramar Pineland, 3600 S. University Drive, Miramar, has twice-monthly Sunset Nature Walks for ages 6 and up from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The next walk is March 8. Cost is $3 per person. To register, call the park at 954-357-8776. Other walks are April 8 and 12, May 6 and 10, and June 3 and 7.

Wahoo tournament: Because of poor weather, the Bimini Big Game Club has rescheduled the Wahoo Smackdown VI Tournament for March 12-14. For information and to register online, visit biggameclubbimini.com/big-game-tournament.htm.

Bird counting: Everglades National Park has a Big Day Birding Adventure March 14, where the public helps count birds within the park’s varied habitats. Meet at the Anhinga Trail parking area at 8 a.m. Be prepared to drive your car more than 40 miles to Flamingo, stopping at points of interest along the main park road. Some walking is involved.
