A Westmont woman died from injuries suffered in an accident involving her motorcycle and an automobile on Interstate 88 on Friday evening, the Oak Brook Police Department reported Saturday.

Police said the accident occurred at about 10 p.m.

The Oak Brook Police and Fire departments responded to the intersection of Midwest Road and I-88 for a crash report involving an automobile and a motorcycle, police said in a release Saturday.

Officers arrived on scene and located a female down on the roadway suffering from a traumatic leg injury, police said.

It was determined that she was the only person on the motorcycle at the time of the crash, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified by police as Wilson Pappachen, of Grayslake, was not injured, police said. Following the crash, he was transported to the police department, where he received citations for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to yield when turning left. He was released pending a court date.

The female riding the motorcycle was in her 60s, police said. She was transported, treated and later pronounced deceased at the hospital, police said. The Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT) was contacted and responded to the scene to conduct the crash reconstruction and investigation.
