Ryan Richter, who lives in Western Springs, answered these questions while working on his laptop in the Starbucks in downtown Hinsdale.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: Willow Springs

Q: What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A: A scientist. I saw “Back to the Future,” and I wanted to build a time machine.

Q: If you could live in a different time period, when would you have liked to live?

A: In the ’70s, because of the music.

Q: Do you play a musical instrument?

A: I’ve played the drums since I was 4 and I play bass and guitar and I sing.

Q: Do you have a favorite movie?

A: “Wayne’s World”

Q: What’s the last book you read that you would recommend?

A: “Modern Romance” by Aziz Ansari

Q: Do you have a favorite television show?

A: “Chuck,” it’s not on anymore. It was about a guy who works at the equivalent of Best Buy and becomes a spy.

Q: Where do you work?

A: I’m a barista at the Starbucks in La Grange. I work part time and I’m in college.

Q: What are you studying?

A: I’m a business major, and a media communications minor.

Q: Where is your favorite place to vacation?

A: Anywhere on the West Coast. My friends and I drove up and down the coast from Seattle to San Diego. It was the trip of a lifetime.
