Wow, did Phil Kadner ever have some strange views in his Nov. 17 column on refugees and ISIS. He claims that fear “is really the (terrorists) only weapon.” Uh no, they also use guns, knives and bombs. Then he says that “killing is not really their primary motive.” That’s hard to believe in light of all the killing that has been committed by terrorists, going back to 9/11 and up to the Paris massacres. In closing, Kadner states “our ideals should come first, particularly at a time like this.” Wrong again, ideals will not protect Americans from a terrorist attack. Until we can sort out the terrorists possibly passing as refugees from Syria, we must use the utmost caution in who we allow to cross our borders.

I was reading in Speak Out where people were crucifying the Republicans against Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, saying Clinton’s so good. You’re the same people who voted President Obama in, and look where our country’s at now. You better wake up because you’re a bunch of stupid Democratic voters. We don’t need another Clinton in the Oval Office or another four years of Obama.

Gov. Bruce Rauner’s caved in to the Democrats. He said he was going to reform Illinois but he’s not. He’s just as afraid of the Democrats as all the other Republicans are. House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton have run Illinois for many years and are still running it. Governor, get a backbone and stand up for what you promised to do for Illinois.

When will the leaders in the USA realize that the gang situation is completely out of control in all of our big cities? In 2014, Chicago had 458 murders and 1,700 shootings. In 2015, we already have 465 murders and 2,076 shootings, and we still have several weeks left in the year. Forget about building casinos and museums and build more prisons.

It seems like every Chicago TV news team has at least one person who wants to be on a soap opera because they make every story so dramatic and emotional. If you’re in TV news, you should not put on an act. Every time something happens, it’s like they’re really traumatized by it. I don’t know what’s worse, the fake broadcasters or the fake-looking broadcasters who are 70 and try to look 30.

So far there have been four Republican presidential candidate debates. During them, Donald Trump has said all of the following: 1. “I will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it.” 2. “I will deport 11 million undocumented immigrants.” 3. “I will balance the trade deficit with China.” He continually says what he will do but never explains how he will do it and is never challenged on that. I truly hope he’s the Republican nominee. Hillary Clinton will eat him for lunch.

Contrary to what the State Department might say, the XL Pipeline is in the best interests of the U.S. because it secures an oil source away from the unstable Mideast region. If not built, TransCanada will build a pipeline to the West Coast and export it to our Communist friend China.

I’d like to know why MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred suspends these players for 50, 70 or 80 games for using performance-enhancing drugs. Fire them. Kick them out of the league. They’ll always be druggies anyway.

The real issue with the impasse in Illinois between Gov. Bruce Rauner and Senate President John Cullerton and House Speaker Michael Madigan is taxes. The Democrats enjoy a supermajority in the Senate and House. They can pass whatever they want, Rauner can veto it and the Democrats have the votes to override. The Democrats want the Republicans to be responsible for an income tax increase. I say let the games continue.
