The jolly gift-giver spends time at the River Forest Public Library every year for “Stories with Santa.” This year, you will find him at the Upstairs Fireplace at 735 Lathrop Ave. from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.
“We rotate the children through a series of different things,” said Children’s Services Manager Amy Grossman. “They do a craft and write a letter to Santa or draw a picture for Santa. Then they have a short story time at one of our fireplaces. Then they go and visit with Santa. They get to sit on Santa’s lap and tell Santa what they want for Christmas.”
A library staff member takes photos which are posted on the library’s children’s blog. Parents are welcome to also photograph their kids with Santa. Afterwards, the kids are treated to cookies and can checkout books.
“It’s a really fun, exciting event. We love doing it,” Grossman said. “A lot of children associate the library with Santa.”
