Eleven Chicago Cubs and White Sox players filed Tuesday for salary arbitration.
The filings are viewed as a procedural move, as teams and players will exchange salary figures by Friday if they haven’t agreed to deals.
Of the 10 players who filed, Cubs ace Jake Arrieta is destined to get the largest salary. Arrieta, who earned $3.63 million in 2015, could see his 2016 salary increase to close to $11 million as a second-year arbitration eligible player.
The other Cubs players who filed were pitchers Travis Wood, Hector Rondon, Pedro Strop, Adam Warren and Justin Grimm and outfielder Chris Coghlan.
The White Sox players who filed were outfielder Avisail Garcia, infielder Brett Lawrie and pitchers Dan Jennings and Zach Putnam.
Hearings are scheduled for Feb. 1-21 if agreements haven’t been reached.
