Nancy Cummings, executive director of the La Grange Business Association, recently talked about her favorite event in La Grange and other topics.

Q: How long have you been executive director?

A: Five years

Q: What did you do before working for the business association?

A: I worked in hospitality, in public relations for Hyatt Hotels for 11 years. That’s where I met my husband, Joe.

Q: Do you have children?

A: I have three grown children.

Q: What do you enjoy about working for the business association?

A: I love talking to business owners and finding out why they located here, what they find exciting about the community and how we can work together to bring in more business. I really like coming up with ideas and taking existing ideas and enhancing them.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: I’d have to say all the Harry Potter books. I’m really excited that there’s a new Harry Potter book coming out this summer. I was really sad when Dumbledore died. J.K. Rowling really has the ability to bring you into that fantasy world.

Q: Where is your favorite color?

A: Periwinkle. It’s the color of a hydrangea.

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: “Sleepless in Seattle.” I’m a romantic at heart.

Q: What is your favorite event in La Grange?

A: Endless Summer Fest. It’s Aug. 5, 6 and 7. It has a carnival, fireworks, food booths. It feels like a small neighborhood festival, but it is still large and exciting.

Q: What’s is your pet peeve?

A: People who brake on the expressway for no reason at all.

Q: Where is your next vacation?

A: We’re going out east for a family reunion on the Connecticut shore. We’ll go to Door County, too.

Q. Are you always on the look out for ideas to bring back to La Grange?

A. Yes. I take pictures on my phone of signs I like or I see ideas that I think would work in La Grange.
