A bungalow in the Horner Park neighborhood was reduced to “rubble,” after it collapsed Saturday afternoon.

Neighbors reported seeing workers pulling out bricks as recently as yesterday but Saturday about 12:50 p.m. the 1-1/2 story brick bungalow at 2553 W. Hutchinson St., collapsed, said Langford.

“It’s completely rubble,” according to Langford, who said firefighters called a still and box alarm which bring multiple pieces of equipment to the scene.

Using cameras the entire building, including its unfinished basement, was searched by firefighters.

Luckily, no one was inside it or working on it at the time it came down, said Langford.

Recently the home, which may have been built in the early 1900s, had been sold for about $500,000 and it was undergoing “major renovation,” said Langford.

Firefighters remained on the scene where the city department of buildings has been summoned.
