No one was injured when people playing with fireworks ignited a house fire in Oswego early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call shortly after midnight to a home in the 100 block of Laurie Lane, where they found a neighbor was using a garden hose to extinguish a blaze on the back exterior of the home, according to Oswego fire officials.

The occupants of the home had safely evacuated prior to firemen arriving on the scene, fire officials said.

“Fire department personnel used about 10 gallons of water from an extinguisher to control the fire,” they said. Damage was confined to the exterior of the residence. “Upon investigation, it was determined that fireworks were a possible cause,” fire officials said. Damage was estimated at $10,000.
