The River Grove Family Picnic will be held on July 16 at the River Grove Gazebo. The event will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., including food, games, a duck race and music.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date would be July 17.
“Local churches, schools and organizations will have tables to sell [food and refreshments],” said Jess Wyda, the village’s recreation director.
Kids activities will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This will included a balloon artist, airbrush tattoos, karaoke, games and mini golf. The magic show will be from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. from magician Steve Joyce. There will also be two bounce houses available.
At 5 p.m., there will be a duck race. Those in attendance can purchase a rubber duck with a number underneath. Officials will drop all of the rubber ducks into the river. The duck that crosses the finish line first will win.
The person with the winning duck will win a monetary gift generated from the sales. Those wishing to participate can sign up the day of the event or at village hall.
The picnic’s activities will finish with the band 8-Track, which will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“It’s a good place for people to come out and support the village, along with organizations such as River Grove School, Rhodes School Music Association and local churches,” Wyda said.
