Chicago State named men’s basketball coach Tracy Dildy as the interim athletic director, the school announced Tuesday.

He’ll assume both positions simultaneously. Dildy replaced athletic director Denisha Hendricks, who recently resigned from the position.

Dildy has been the basketball at Chicago State coach since 2010. He previously was the head coach at Illinois-Chicago and an assistant at DePaul, Ball State, UAB and Mississippi.

“With the help of our coaching staff and administrators I look forward to taking the athletic programs to new heights,” Dildy said in a statement. “My main focus is to ensure our students excel in all areas.”

Chicago State has fallen on hard times financially. The South Side public university was notified in July that its financial struggles have put the school’s accreditation at risk. The school was deeply affected by the state budget stalemate that left the university without funding for much of last year.
