The Women’s Marches on Saturday gave us hope, built solidarity and were a lot of fun. But in Tuesday’s “Women who got on a bus and found their voice,” Lara Weber asks the most important question of all: “What next?”
Without sustained, focused political action, nothing will change. We need to get to work to elect people who will stand up for progressive values in an environment that will surely become increasingly hostile to those values.
This isn’t just about President Donald Trump or even Congress. This is about electing candidates to the boards of school districts, municipalities, townships and all the other local governments that determine the character of the communities we live in. The next consolidated election in Illinois is on April 4. Voter registration ends March 7. Let’s get to work.
