Chicago Bears guard Kyle Long placed his four-bedroom, 3,970-square-foot brick Georgian-style house in Lake Forest on the market Feb. 24 for $1.45 million.
Long, 28, recently signed a four-year contract extension that will pay him a reported $40 million or so and keep him in a Bears uniform through 2021. After inking that deal, Long decided to upgrade his housing, paying $2.56 million in December for a five-bedroom, 6,238-square-foot mansion in east Lake Forest.
That purchase made Long’s smaller home in Lake Forest expendable, so he has placed it up for sale. Long paid $1.35 million in July 2014 for his first home in Lake Forest, which was built in 1980.
Features in the house Long just listed include 31/2 baths; hardwood floors; 9-foot ceilings; a newer kitchen with an island and a walk-in pantry; a library; an all-season sunroom; a recently remodeled master suite with a double vanity, a walk-in shower and lots of closet space; and a lower level with wiring for two TV systems, an exercise room, a fireplace and an artisan-crafted, full-service bar with custom backlighting.
The house, on a 1.39-acre property, is in an area that has held appeal for other athletes. Former Chicago Bulls center Ben Wallace owned a 6,983-square-foot mansion and gated, 1.74-acre property immediately to the west between 2006, when he paid $3 million for it, and 2010, when he sold it for $2.06 million, taking nearly a $1 million loss.
Listing agent Susan Carey of Century 21 Kreuser & Seiler declined to comment on Long’s listing.
