A man was stabbed and seriously wounded in the South Chicago neighborhood Monday evening, police said.

The 33-year-old man was stabbed just before 7:10 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Manistee Avenue, according to a police media notification.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to the chest, police said.

Information on the circumstances of the stabbing and whether someone was in custody was not immediately released.
