Around sunrise Friday morning, under the influence of very cold arctic-source high pressure, temperatures will hover around the zero mark in many locations, with area-wide wind chills ranging from minus 10 to minus 20-degrees.

Mostly sunny skies will allow readings to rebound into the upper teens to lower 20s by afternoon, but a high-level low-pressure disturbance will bring cloudiness and a period of steady light snow later in the afternoon and early evening, lasting well into the overnight hours with an inch or so accumulation possible.

A surface low-pressure system approaching from the west is forecast to pass through our area Saturday night and Sunday with another round of accumulating snow. The total three-day accumulations project to be on the order of 2-3 inches, with perhaps a little more snow closer to Lake Michigan.
