Aurora police are looking for information about a ruse burglary that resulted in a substantial amount of money being stolen from an 88-year-old woman.
The woman told police a man came to her door around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Beau Ridge Drive and said he was there to fix something for her, and that his father knew the woman, police said in a statement on Facebook.
After letting the man in, he led her through the house and to the backyard and talked about items that needed repair. After becoming suspicious, the woman went back into her home and saw the truck the man arrived in speeding away with a second suspect.
While the one man distracted the woman, a second person entered the home and took the money, police said. When she went back to her backyard, the man she was talking to was gone.
The man she was talking with is described as white, between 40 and 50 years old, 160 to 180 pounds, between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, with short, black and white hair. He may have been driving a full-sized black Ford or Chevrolet pickup truck with an extended bed and dark tinted black windows, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Aurora Police Investigations Division at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Information given to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest can qualify for a cash reward. Callers can remain anonymous.
