Ed Connell is an 11-year Lake Bluff resident who works in the world of real estate development, likes to drink wine, has visited the Napa Valey and is a big Cubs fan. He is a widower with a daughter, son-in-law and a grandson.

Q: How did you get started in real estate development?

A: When I was a kid I was a laborer for a construction company and I also worked for a real estate developer when I was 15 years old. I said, ‘gee, this looks like fun.’

Q: What is the favorite type of food you like to go out for?

A: I’m from a big family so I’ll eat anything that won’t eat me first.

Q: Do you prefer California or French wines?

A: Both, I don’t have a preference, but if push came to shove and they were equal, I would go for the California wine first.

Q: What struck you about the Napa Valley?

A: I’d love to live there. The people were great, we focused on the small wineries. We ran into some really great people and some really great wines.

Q: What is a place you would like to visit and why?

A: I’d like to see Thailand, China, southeast Asia because it is a part of the world I know the least about and I would love to experience the culture.

Q: Who is your favorite player on the Cubs?

A: Javier Baez. He puts it all out every play, he doesn’t take any plays off whether it is offense or defense. Also he is a very smart baseball player. He understands the game.

Q: How far do you think the Cubs will go this year?

A: I think they are going to make it to the World Series. It’s a crapshoot at that point.
