Monday was the deadline for candidates to file petitions to have their name added to the April 2 election ballot. Here is a roundup of those who are running for office:
East Dundee Village Board
Incumbents Trustees Jeff Lynam and Alan Hall, appointed Trustee Kathleen Mahony and newcomer Scott Kunze are running for three 4-year terms.
West Dundee Village Board
Four candidates — incumbent Trustees Andrew Yuscka, Michele Kembitzky and Thomas Price and newcomer Julie Fox — are running for three 4-year terms.
Carpentersville Village Board
Three 4-year terms and one 2-year term are up for grabs on the Carpentersville Village Board.
Trustee John P. O’Sullivan, appointed to fill the seat of the late Trustee Patricia Schultz, is running to complete the two years remaining to the term.
Trustees Jeffrey P. Frost and Maria Vela, each appointed to vacant positions with terms that end in 2019, are running against newcomers Jim Malone and Humberto P. Garcia for the 4-year terms.
Trustee Paul Humpfer is not seeking re-election.
Dundee Township Park Board
Incumbent Commissioners Erin O’Leary and John Meschewski are running for re-election to six-year terms.
Geneva City Council
One aldermanic seat in each of the city’s five wards is up for election. Each is a 4-year term.
Incumbent Tara Burghart has filed for Ward 1; incumbent Michael Clements and newcomer Tad A. Hemming in Ward 2; incumbent Dean Kilburg in Ward 3; newcomers Paula Merrington and Gabriel Kaven in Ward 4; incumbent Craig Maladra and newcomer Tom Simonian in Ward 5.
Batavia City Council
One 4-year aldermanic seat in each of the city’s seven wards is up for election. There is also a 2-year term in Ward 4.
Scott Salvati is the only candidate in Ward 1. Incumbent Alan Wolff will vie against Leonard J. Solfa Jr. in Ward 2. Incumbent Dan Chanzit is the only candidate in Ward 3. Newcomers Susan Alderson and Joseph A. Knopp and incumbent Susan Stark are running in Ward 4. Incumbent Lucy Thelin Atac and newcomers Michael Woerner, Abby Beck and Mike Hanrahan are running in Ward 5. Incumbent Michael D. Russotto has no competition in Ward 6. Incumbent Dave Brown and newcomer Keenan Miller will face off in Ward 7.
Tony Malay and Anthony Schullo will compete for the 2-year term in Ward 4.
Batavia Park Board
Incumbent Commissioners Patrick Callahan and Tara Gray are running for re-election to two Batavia Park Board seats.
St. Charles City Council
One 4-year term in each of the city’s five wards is up for election.
Only the Ward 2 race is contested, with incumbent Rita Payleitner vying against newcomer Ryan Bongard.
Incumbents Daniel Stellato in Ward 1, Todd Bancroft in Ward 3 and Ed Bessner in Ward 5 and newcomer David Pietryla in Ward 4 are unopposed.
St. Charles Park Board
Incumbents Commissioners James F. Cooke and Bob Thomson and newcomer Margaret “Peggy” McCarthy have filed to run for three 4-year terms. Commissioner Trish Beckjord did not seek re-election.
Elgin City Council
The Elgin City Council has the position of mayor, four 4-year council seats and one 2-year council seat open in the 2019 election.
Current Mayor Dave Kaptain will face a challenge from Councilwoman Carol Rauschenberger.
There are seven candidates for the 4-year seats. Incumbents John Steffen, Tish Powell, Rose Martinez and Toby Shaw will face newcomers Fred Moulton, Anthony E. Ortiz and Dustin Good.
Those seeking the 2-year term are Baldemar Lopez, Steve Thoren and Jerri McCue.
South Elgin Village Board
The South Elgin Village Clerk’s Office did not respond to requests for the names of candidates who filed to be on the April 2 election ballot.
