An autopsy on Monday found that a 35-year-old North Chicago man found dead Sunday morning at a Greenfield Avenue residence died of gunshot wounds.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper identified the man as Benson Saintil, adding that Saintil “died from injuries caused by gunshots.”

The case is being investigated by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

North Chicago police officers were dispatched shortly after 8 a.m. to the 1700 block of Greenfield, where they found the man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli, spokesman for the task force. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Chicago Police requested the task force to help in the investigation.
