“Pride & Joy — The Marvin Gaye Musical” is coming to the Chicago Theatre in June for nearly a week’s worth of performances. “Pride & Joy” is described as a jukebox musical about the early career of the legendary Motown musician and his relationship with Anna Gordy — Motown founder Berry Gordy’s sister.
The show will play the downtown theater for seven performances from June 19-23. Tickets go on sale 11 a.m. March 22 at 800-745-3000 and www.ticketmaster.com.
The touring musical features 28 songs from Gaye and the Motown catalogue and is set against the sociopolitical backdrop of the 1960s. It’s co-presented by New Day Entertainment, a New York-based production company run by former Prince promoter Quentin Perry and daughter Keia Perry-Farr.
