A section of the Mississippi River that divides Illinois from Iowa and Missouri has been named one of America’s most endangered rivers, meaning one of the country’s most important waterways is threatened by a battle between farmers and governments on both sides of the river over how to hold back floodwaters and the techniques used to tame the mighty river.
