Democratic state Sen. Thomas E. Cullerton has been indicted on charges alleging he pocketed salary and benefits from the Teamsters labor union despite doing no work.
The indictment charges Cullerton — a cousin of Illinois Senate President and Chicago Democrat John Cullerton — with 39 counts of embezzlement and one count each of conspiracy and making false statements. Cullerton represents a district in suburban DuPage County.
