Former Chicago Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox and his wife, SanDerriqua, are looking to sell their five-bedroom, ranch-style house in north suburban Wadsworth for $575,000.
Knox, 34, played for the Bears from 2009 until 2011, when he suffered a serious spinal cord injury during a game. He never was physically able to play in another game, and he announced his retirement in 2013.
Now, with SanDerriqua Knox completing a college degree and recently joining the U.S. Air Force, the couple are moving on, said listing agent Lori Progar of Coldwell Banker.
“Even though Chicago gave them so much, it was time to branch out and let his wife pursue her goals and dreams and see where life takes their family,” Progar said.
The couple’s 3,442-square-foot house in Wadsworth has 41/2 bathrooms, hardwood floors on the main level, a primary bedroom suite with a tray ceiling and two walk-in closets, and a finished basement with a large bar and home theater. The home’s kitchen is combined with a great room that has vaulted ceilings and a fireplace.
“People just love the open floor plan,” Progar said. “They don’t like walls anymore. They like it open.”
The couple first listed the house in May for nearly $720,000. They most recently cut their asking price to $575,000 on Nov. 10.
The house had a $14,898 property tax bill for 2019.
Knox and his wife continue to own a three-bedroom, 2,840-square-foot town home in Gurnee that they bought in 2010 for $331,000.
