Overblown insurrection? Ask the police officers trying to defend our seat of democracy if this was a walk in the park. We all watched in real time the MAGA supporters trying to block the peaceful transfer of power that we enjoyed for 244 years until Trump urged his worshippers on to violence. His message of a corrupt media has been embraced by small-minded people who are all in on ignorance and proud of it. Please turn off Fox News and get a dose of reality.

Fox News has both sides of the story … “Like the saga of the overblown insurrection.” Yep you’re right the video of Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., barricading House Chambers door with tables and chests was just his way of welcoming “normal tourist visitors” to the United States Capitol. What color is the sky in your world?

Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, said he was shocked that Liz Cheney took a seat on the congressional committee to investigate an attack on the Capitol. He says he will strip anyone of assignments who accepted a position. What has happened to my party?

The Republican Party is no longer playing dumb about the January 6th insurrection. They are openly trying to mask a deadly attack on our democracy with their cover up and refusal to investigate the origins. All with the help of right wing media who is determined to lie to the public.

Indiana’s Republican legislators keep passing laws that federal judges keep blocking. We in Indiana are governed by a bunch of partisan fools. No wonder Holcomb had to go to the Persian Gulf for a breath of fresh air.

Given the demographic makeup of Duners and that hamlet’s history, I can tell you the real source of their consternation about paving the bike path: Their NIMBY-ism stems from a fear of the “wrong” type of people traversing their community. Namely, they are afraid that someone who isn’t lilly white, or people from some other “lower class” might pass by. This is pure racism and elitism.

I felt like I was living in a war zone Saturday night. It was ridiculous and dangerous. Indiana will never regulate fireworks because it will support anything that generates tax revenues. They don’t care as long as it brings in money. Our towns and cities should regulate which fireworks can be used in residential areas. I hope they do something before someone gets really hurt or loses their home. Saturday was awful.

With 150 Americans killed in 400 separate shootings over the holiday weekend, “Fourth of July Fireworks” is taking on a whole new and terrifying meaning. Is this henceforth going to be the way we celebrate our independence? The framers of our Constitution could never have imagined this happening.

The Dems seem to be writing the majority of the Quicklies. Perhaps that is because the majority of the people who know how to write are Dems.

I agree with a few Quickly contributors today. Most of the Quickly comments are from people that add no value to society. Most of these deadwood contributors suffer from TDS. That must be their driving force. If they would pursue getting a job, I do believe they would see the light and begin to add to society.

I always assumed that the reason the majority of Quickly comments leaned Democratic was because Republicans can’t string together a coherent sentence to put into writing. The comments that do get in from GOP enthusiasts support that hypothesis.

I don’t mind a difference of opinion, especially if I can learn something from it. I do mind ignorance, especially when people are so stuck in their stupidity.

I am proud to be a backward-thinking lefty. We are the people that gave you a minimum wage, as sad as it is; Social Security, the largest poverty eliminating program ever; The Affordable Care Act, which gave health insurance to 30 million previously uninsured people; the 1964 Civil Rights Act; the 24th Amendment; the 1965 Voting Rights Act; the NLRB; OSHA; the 40-hour work week and overtime pay; and public education (thank you, Horace Mann). I am sorry that space does not permit a more comprehensive list of the many progressive acts and laws created by backward-thinking lefties.

Mr. Trump continues to lie about an election being stolen. He continues to malign and disparage a million of Republicans and Democrats who work the polls tirelessly for a fair election. He is accusing them of conspiracy which is nothing but a lie. He is such a disgraceful man that I am so ashamed that I once voted for.

Hey Mayor Lynch, here’s an idea: instead of sending the street sweepers out, why don’t you get the roads repaired first? Does Portage really need the world’s cleanest potholes?
