Louis DeJoy, the U.S. Postmaster appointed by the former guy, seems to be taking us for a ride. According to Common Cause, not only is he intentionally raising prices and slowing down the mail, he is apparently lining his pockets too. XPO, his former employer and renter from his family business, has gotten a $120 million, five-year contract from the postal service. This could generate $23 million in rent for DeJoy’s family businesses over the next 10 years. The corruption from the former guy is still rearing its ugly head. DeJoy needs to go sooner rather than later.

Pretty soon we won’t be able to get people to volunteer for election duty or be candidates for their local school boards. And who can blame them, when poll watchers and board members are being confronted with violence just for doing their jobs? But face it. Republicans want there to be a shortage of election officials so they can close precincts and make it a challenge even to find the place where you are supposed to vote. If you mistakenly vote in the wrong precinct, they will make sure that your vote doesn’t count and even threaten you with legal action. And who needs school boards when parents who know nothing about education think they should be making all the decisions about how schools are run? Republicans claim they want smaller government. What they’re encouraging, and what they’re getting, is lawlessness, disorder, and anarchy.

As if it is not enough to deal with all the construction in the Wheeler area, you would of thought the county would of got the side roads we are being forced to use in a little better shape. By the time this project is over, we will all need new tires or auto repair from the rough roads.

On Thursday, a disturbed individual parked his truck in front of the Library of Congress and claimed that his truck was filled with explosives. He was shouting about a number of grievances. What was interesting was the fact that he felt the 2020 election was stolen and Trump should be returned to the White House. He also implied Republicans were the only true patriots. His actions are right out of the Trump playbook. This clearly demonstrates that misleading and misguided activities can have a dangerous impact on certain mindsets. When will Trump supporters begin to understand that political skullduggery and promotions like the Big Lie can have a devastating effect on many people in our society. If you support Trumpism, you are complicit in the damaging events that have taken place related to the election and the impact these activities have had on weaker minds. We must be careful about the image we project and the people we support. Why is this so important? Someone once said, ‘Weak minds will try to kill a fly with a sledge hammer.’

Looks like the Trump people are trying to distance themselves from the Trump Taliban withdrawal Treaty. The most ridiculous comment is by his latest and final, Christopher Miller. Per him, the May final withdrawal date was a ruse and was never going to happen.

Aretha Franklin, the singer who sold over 75 million records, unknowingly gave us the answer to how we should deal with the issues surrounding masks and vaccinations. Debates will go on as long as the virus is present on this earth. We should stop stressing over debates. The nature of debates is as American as apple pie. America is synonymous with freedom of choice. Here is the real issue. Freedom is not free! There are consequences. Refusal to wear a mask or take the shot could result in denial of access to certain services or activities. Within this  context we should not be disrespectful to those who disagree with us. It follows that we should be willing to accept the ‘penalty’ without malice when we choose not to follow appropriately established guidelines or mandates. The famous singer Aretha Franklin gave us the simple answer to this entire debate with her number one hit record entitled R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Stop with the lie about people crossing the border are the cause of the pandemic. Red states and the ignorant of facts Republican supporters who refuse to vaccinate or wear masks are spreaders of the delta variant. Everyone that’s done the correct things like staying home, masking and vaccinating are being punished by these fools.

Never forget we were lied into the Iraq and Afghanistan wars by George Bush and the Republicans. There were never weapons of mass destruction and Bin Laden was in Pakistan. I say well done President Biden. You had the courage to end this were not one more American serviceman will lose his life for the gain of defense contractors.

Good news. Joe Biden says he will not extend the $300 unemployment bonus, which expires next month. That will end the lucrative policy of turning down job offers to stay home and get paid for not working. Turning down jobs was paying almost $700 a week this month. I am sure all of the local businesses needing employees will be very appreciative.

If people are getting more money from unemployment than did from their job, they weren’t being paid enough in the first place. What would you choose? Pay for no work or work for no pay? It’s not a Republican or Democratic issue. If companies need employees, then start making the pay more attractive. Look at the agriculture industry. The source of migrant and immigrant workers has dried up, now the ag industry is suffering. Pay workers more. Upper level management has no problem raking in the big bucks.
