An Aurora man has been charged with driving under the influence after a two-vehicle crash in the city early Sunday morning that left a 35-year-old woman with serious injuries, police officials said.
Kristian Magana-Zuniga, 19, was driving eastbound on Parker Avenue and did not stop at the stop sign at Douglas Avenue, Aurora police said in a news release. Magana-Zuniga, driving a 2017 Dodge Charger, collided with a 1999 Ford Econoline van in the intersection, which resulted in the van rolling over and landing on its passenger side, according to police.
The passenger in the Ford van, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. She was later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center for further treatment.
Magana-Zuniga and the passenger in his vehicle, an 18-year-old Aurora woman, were both treated for minor injuries.
Magana-Zuniga was arrested and charged with disobeying a stop sign, driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Aurora Police Department Traffic Division at 630-256-5330 or email tips@aurora.il.us.
