I knew Rep. Jim Banks was an Indiana Republican, but did not know he may also be an adherent of the Taliban. Trying to restrict Hoosier women from crossing state lines to seek health care services is un-American and goes against our freedoms. What is next? Forcibly wearing a burqa and taking away our driving privileges? Banks is a special kind of danger to our state and especially our women. We can not keep going backward with these moronic candidates.
Are the reasons for an elected school board in Gary on mute? No one has given a good reason why the Gary schools should have an elected school board. Elected boards have failed the children and the community. There is no disrespect to the Gary voters by switching to an appointed board. Elected boards have not only disrespected the community but also placed the Gary graduates at the bottom of the rankings in test scores, facilities and Statewide respect. State control (DUAB) is bringing the district back. The rational, nonpartisan and non-political side of the community believes an appointed board can provide a responsible measure of control and keep the district moving in a positive direction. We are still waiting for someone to convince us that another elected board is the answer. I hear silence!
Rep. Jim Banks is trying to replace Senator Mike Braun. He said that there needs to be a new law that cars leaving the state of Indiana can be stopped to see if young ladies are leaving the state to get an abortion in another state. We have people being murdered all over the country every day, sometimes more than one shooting a day, and this guy is living in a fantasy land, instead of fixing a real problem. NO, we don’t need him to be our Senator, any more than we needed him to be a representative of our state,
I see that some states are considering legislation that would ban from elected office anyone convicted of insurrection against the United States of America. That is a great idea. Every state should do that and they should make it retroactive to get those idiots out of Congress.
During the Trump administration, the Environmental Protection Agency lost 1,200 agents. Why should this surprise anybody? It was Trump’s policy to obstruct the enforcement of environmental regulations because they are “bad for business.” It will be near impossible to build the EPA back to its former strength with the radical right, pro-business cartel in charge of the House of Representatives. They will use every trick in the books to stifle EPA funding. They’d like nothing better than to completely eliminate the agency. During the Trump administration, enforcement of regulations on clean air and water were practically nonexistent, and even the conservative wing of the Supreme Court was enlisted (successfully) in Trump’s industry-friendly attacks on environmental law.
If one wanted advice on how to mishandle documents, deny having them, and force an FBI raid on on their property to retrieve said documents, then Trump would be the guru to consult. If one wanted to take a more open approach, like cooperating with the proper authorities, voluntarily turning over documents, then Biden’s approach would be the way to go. Hiring Trump to handle classified material is another example of flawed Republican reasoning!
Texas Republicans don’t even try anymore to conceal their racism and bigotry. They are outraged over a bill introduced in the Texas legislature that would include, among other hate crimes, any rhetoric by white supremacists that encourages or leads to violence against non-whites. Think about it. Why would they oppose such a measure? The answer is simple. They want the support of white supremacists, recognize how plentiful they actually are, and don’t want to risk losing their support. Mexico, would you please take Texas back? Please?
Do you recall Ronald Reagan’s famous 11th Commandment? “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.” I guess this goes a long way towards explaining their massive silence surrounding the George Santos scandal. Republicans will tolerate just about anything said or done by a fellow Republican, and their refusal to condemn Santos (and other Republicans, like Marjorie Taylor Greene) proves it.
