Spring concert
The Elgin Symphony Orchestra presents “Friday Favorites: Music You Know — Spring Edition” at 6:30 p.m. April 21 at Second Baptist Church of Elgin. Tickets are $5-$20; students 17 and under are free. At 1280 Summit St. 847-888-4000; elginsymphony.org.
The concert will feature American standards, music from composers like Dvorák and Brahms, and Grainger’s traditional Irish melody “Danny Boy,” among others.
Arts, crafts, baked goods
Art and Market Aurora is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at Society 57 in Aurora. Tickets are free. At 100 S. River St. auroradowntown.org.
The market will feature baked goods along with homegrown and handmade items; including candles, cookies, plants, jewelry, baked goods, body oils and more.
Go fly a kite
An Earth Day Kite Fly is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 22 at Prairie Point Community Park in Oswego. Tickets are free. At 4120 Plainfield Road. 630-554-1010; oswegolandparkdistrict.org/events/.
Celebrate National Kite Month and Earth Day with kite flying. Bring your own kite to fly or kick back and watch the pros. There will be professional demonstrations and stunts using giant kites.
Coffee crawl
Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s Coffee Cup Crawl will be at 10 a.m. April 22 at the Geneva Public Library in Geneva. Tickets are $30. At 227 S. 7th St. 630-232-6060; genevachamber.com.
Sixteen Fox Valley businesses will serve coffee-inspired items; a complete list of participants and their drink selections are on the website. Participants will receive a souvenir mug.
Taiwan Philharmonic
The Taiwan Philharmonic performs at 3 p.m. April 23 at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College in Naperville. Tickets are $38-$120. At 171 E. Chicago Ave. 630-637-7469; northcentralcollege.edu/show.
Led by Music Director Jun Märkl, the Taiwan Philharmonic concludes its U.S. tour in Naperville with a varied repertoire.
