New cannabis dispensary in New Lenox
New York-based cannabis retailer Curaleaf opened its 10th Illinois location last week, in New Lenox.
The recreational and medical-use dispensary opened Sept. 23 at 709 E. Lincoln Highway, next to the Walmart Supercenter. Among the dignitaries on hand for the ribbon cutting was New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann, the former police chief in Chicago Ridge.
Curaleaf carries a wide range of CBD and THC products, including flower, pre-rolls, tinctures, vape cartridges, gummies, and concentrates.
Walk-ins are encouraged, or customers can order online and pick it up when convenient.
The dispensary is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Due to federal banking regulations, the New Lenox site accepts only cash. There is an ATM on site.
Curaleaf moved into Illinois in 2021 when it acquired two exiting cannabis companies. One of the former Windy City Cannabis locations is in south suburban Worth and another is in southwest suburban Justice.
Curaleaf operates 152 dispensaries in 19 states and also has 21 cultivation sites.
Seniors Only driver’s license services at SeatGeek Stadium
The Secretary of State Office has opened a limited time Seniors Only walk-in center at SeatGeek Stadium, 7000 S. Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview.
The walk-in center will be open through Dec. 31 and is the latest senior-targeted addition to the newly launched Skip-the-Line program designed to reduce wait times at Illinois driver and motor vehicle facilities.
Seniors utilizing this Bridgeview walk-in center will not need appointments, but they will still have the option to make one at SeatGeek Stadium or other drivers services locations.
The facility will provide standard DMV services, such as renewing driver’s licenses, conducting driving tests, and providing Real IDs.
The hours of operation at SeatGeek Stadium are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Seniors looking to visit the SeatGeek Stadium DMV can park in the designated DMV lot located to the right of Gate D, the entrance to the building. Upon entering through the Main Entrance at Gate D, seniors will be guided to the DMV service center.
A second seniors only facility is open at the Evanston Civic Center, 2100 N. Ridge Road in Evanston.
DesignPac buys Bedford Park building
Plymouth Industrial REIT Inc. has sold a Bedford Park industrial building for $19.9 million and expects to offload another.
The nearly 307,000-square-foot property was sold to DesignPac, its owner-user, said Plymouth CEO Jeff Witherell in a statement. The building was leased to DesignPac, a provider of gift baskets that’s a division of 1-800-Flowers, in the second quarter of 2022, according to market reports.
Net proceeds from the sale of 6510 W. 73rd St. in Bedford Park were $13.9 million after paying off a $5.8 million mortgage secured by the property and other adjustments. Plymouth said it plans to use the net proceeds from the sale to help pay down outstanding borrowings on its credit facility and fund its development program.
The Boston-based real estate investment trust closed last week on the sale of the suburban building it had owned since 2017 and is eyeing another Chicago-area building sale.
“We have previously identified a handful of properties across our portfolio that are either in one-off markets where we do not have scale, or the building is not a long-term hold. This sale to an owner-user fits this description perfectly,” said Witherell in a statement. “We expect to complete at least one additional disposition by year-end that could sell for approximately $17 million.”
The occupancy rate for the Bedford Park building was 67% at the time of the sale, according to Tripp Sullivan, a spokesman for Plymouth.
