After the hearing, the lawyer representing Joaquin Guzman Lopez told reporters that contrary to some media reports, there was no deal with federal prosecutors that led to the dramatic arrest last week.

Here’s what else is happening today. And remember, for the latest breaking news in Chicago, visit chicagotribune.com/latest-headlines and sign up to get our alerts on all your devices.
