A woman is in custody after a 57-year-old man was found fatally shot early Sunday morning in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago police.

Officers responded around 3:15 a.m. Sunday to the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue, where a man was found inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest, police reported. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

A 60-year-old woman suspected in the shooting was on the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody, police said. Police also reported that a weapon was recovered at the scene.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
