The westbound lanes on I-88 near Route 53 in DuPage County have now reopened after a fatal crash near Lisle had shut down the lanes and diverted traffic to other routes, Illinois State Police said.
The lanes reopened at 8:10 a.m., police said.
The accident involving two passenger vehicles occurred around 4:50 a.m., police said. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was transported to an area hospital with injuries.
No further information was available.
