A home has been deemed uninhabitable, and several people have been displaced, after a fire on Aurora’s southwest side on Monday afternoon, according to the Aurora Fire Department.
At around 1:50 p.m. on Monday, the department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2600 block of Lansdale Street, according to a news release from the fire department.
Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the roof area of a two-story single-family home, with fire involvement in the attic space near installed solar panels, the release said.
The fire was initially dispatched as a box alarm, the fire department said, but it was later upgraded to a second alarm due to the conditions observed on arrival and as crews worked to bring it under control, according to officials.
Firefighters advanced hose lines and initiated interior and exterior operations, while truck company personnel assisted with ventilation and the removal of damaged material, the news release said.

Crews worked to contain the fire and check for extension, with damage primarily in the roof and attic area. The fire was ultimately brought under control, the department said.
An initial search confirmed that there were no occupants inside the home, and there were no injuries reported during the fire, the fire department said.
Due to the damage, however, the home was deemed uninhabitable, displacing two adults and two children, per the fire department. Victim Services responded to assist the family, who are temporarily staying with nearby friends, the department said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the department’s fire investigators.
