Libertyville’s Brock Williams announced on Pat McAfee’s show on Friday that he has committed to play football at Texas.

Williams, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end ranked 79th nationally in the 2027 class in the 247Sports composite ratings, had received offers from nearly 40 Power Four programs but shortened his list to finalists Georgia, Ohio State and Texas.

“He’s had a great experience,” Libertyville coach Tim Budge said. “Before he narrowed his choices down, it was very busy. We’ve had a lot of schools come through that we don’t usually have in the building. For me handling the logistics, it was constantly being on the phone with people wanting to meet with him, sometimes the day of.

“I’ve got to compliment him on the way he’s handled himself with all of these coaches. He’s always been very humble, very respectful, and able to sit down and have a mature conversation. I can’t imagine how his life has been for the last 12 to 18 months.”

Williams finished last season with 40 catches for 580 yards and 10 touchdowns, and he also returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns.

“Blocking was a dimension in his game that really took off last year, when we were able to do so many things with him, and the impact he made on special teams with kick returns and punt returns was huge,” Budge said.
