At least two people were pronounced dead and six people were taken to hospitals overnight after a blaze broke out at a residence in the West Englewood neighborhood, fire officials said.

A spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department said the fire happened overnight at a residence in the 6200 block of South Paulina Street where six people were taken to area hospitals, and as of Wednesday morning two people have died from their injuries.

Fire officials were investigating the cause of the fatal fire and no further information was immediately available.
