MCDONALD FARM HOLDING FREE FAMILY EVENTS

The Conservation Foundation is hosting free, family-friendly music events from 4 to 6 p.m. on select Sundays this summer at McDonald Farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road, Naperville.

The first, featuring the Bree Gordon Band, will be held June 14. Fernando’s Street Kitchen and Sno Problems are the food trucks scheduled to be on site.

The Old Fashioneds will perform July 12 with food available from Billy Bricks Pizza & Ice Cream and the Milkman’s Kid is set for Aug. 9, with food offered by Good Omen Gyoza and Sno Problems.

Parking and admission is free. Guests should bring blankets or lawn chairs.

The foundation continues its festivities with the annual Fall Market and Music Fest from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at McDonald Farm. It will include a farmers market with produce from local farms and The Conservation Foundation’s Green Earth Harvest program’s organic vegetables.

Live music will be provided by Triple Replay, and there will be children’s activities, farm tours and Fernando’s Street Kitchen food truck.

KIDS FISHING DERBY AT BLACKWELL PRESERVE

A free Just for Kids Fishing Derby for children 15 and younger will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Silver Lake in the Blackwell Forest Preserve, near Butterfield and Winfield roads in Warrenville.

Staff and volunteers from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will be on hand to offer fishing tips, a news release said.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, the news release said. A limited supply of gear and nightcrawlers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants will compete for prizes in four age groups by catching the largest fish in three species categories, the release said.

Registration is available online, by calling 630-933-7248 or in person on the day of the event.

There is no capacity limit, and kids can drop in anytime during the event. For more information, go to www.dupageforest.org.

NAPERVILLE PROGRAM AIMS TO CONNECT NEIGHBORS

The city of Naperville, Naperville Neighbors United and North Central College will host an inclusive gathering at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the college’s Stevenson Hall, Wentz Science Center, 131 S. Loomis St.

“A Seat for Everyone: Naperville Comes Together” is part of the ongoing Embracing Community series and is open to everyone.

According to a news release, the goal is to have neighbors connect with one another, build new relationships and strengthen the sense of belonging. Participants are asked to bring a meaningful personal object to spark conversation, officials said.

Participants will gather in small groups and again as a larger community in late 2026 or early 2027.
