
‘HAMILTON’ SING-ALONG AT DUNDEE LIBRARY
A free sing-along showing of “Hamilton: An American Musical” will be presented from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.
The event will include a trivia game for prizes at an intermission, according to the library’s website. Attendees are encouraged to brush up on their knowledge of Alexander Hamilton and the American Revolution. Refreshments will be served.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE READING AT MUSEUM
Elgin will take part in a nationwide, simultaneous public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 5 p.m. outside the Elgin Public Museum, 360 Park St., Elgin.
The effort was initiated by the Hawaii America250 Commission, according to the museum’s website. It marks the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the document on July 8, 1776, in Philadelphia.
Elgin’s reading is being coordinated by the Elgin History Museum, Fox Valley Sons of the American Revolution, Elias Kent Kane Daughters of the American Revolution and Signal Hill Daughters of the American Revolution. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 4:30 p.m. and bring lawn chairs.

SENIOR SERVICES ASSOCIATES SHOE DRIVE IN JULY
Senior Services Associates is holding a shoe collection drive through Friday, July 31.
People are asked to donate new lightly worn used shoes, according to a social media post for the drive. The collection keeps old shoes out of landfills while raising money for Senior Services Associates’ efforts assisting the elderly, organizers said.

AMERICAN DREAM PHOTO EXHIBIT OPENING JULY 10
An opening reception for the photo exhibition “The American Dream” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the gallery of the Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin.
Artist Arnaldo Utrera “uses street photography to question who truly belongs in this country and at what cost,” according to the Side Street Studio Arts website. “Through quiet, unembellished images, the work challenges viewers to confront the myth of opportunity and those left unseen within it.”
