CARPENTERSVILLE ROTARY BLIND FLIGHTS FUNDRAISER

The Carpentersville Rotary Club will hold its Blind Flights beer tasting fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave., Carpentersville.

In addition to beer from nine local establishments, the event will feature live music and food for purchase from No Manches and Duke’s Blues-N-BBQ, according to the club’s website. The first 150 people to attend will receive a free tasting glass.

BENEFIT CONCERT JULY 12 FOR ANDERSON HUMANE

A benefit concert to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Anderson Humane in South Elgin will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum & Art Gallery, 1317 E. Main St., St. Charles.

Set to perform are The Bare Hambones, Rishi Maze, Saturday Morning Punk Rock Club and Little King Trashmouth, according to the nonprofit animal shelter’s website. The event will also feature raffles, a cash bar and free admission to the museum.

TROLLEY MUSEUM ‘ALL ABOARD DAYS’ PLANNED

The Fox River Trolley Museum is holding “All Aboard Days” for those with special needs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, July 12 and Aug. 9.

Trolley rides will be modified to make them more sensory-friendly, according to the museum’s website. The museum will also have a sensory-friendly area in its Wayne depot and will run a special quiet train.

Those who require special accommodations should contact the museum in advance so staff can assist with the visit.

Regular admission rates apply and no reservations are required. The Fox River Trolley Museum is located at 365 S. La Fox St., South Elgin.

FREE CONCERT BEING PRESENTED AT LORDS PARK ZOO

Chamber Music on the Fox will present The Outset Trio in a free concert from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, July 13, at Lords Park Zoo, 325 Hiawatha Drive, Elgin.

The performance will include music from composer Mark O’Connor, whose works combine bluegrass, country, jazz and classical, according to the Chamber on the Fox website.

The Outset Trio features violin, viola and double bass players. The three musicians met during their fellowship at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and were inspired to perform together by their mentor, Yo-Yo Ma.

SEIGLE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES EDUCATION GRANTS

Seigle Foundation recently awarded 11 nonprofit organizations a total of $356,250 in education grants.

According to a news release, those selected by the foundation’s board of directors to receive funding are Alignment Collaborative for Education; Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois; Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley; Elgin Public Museum; Enriching Partnerships for Early Learning; Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project; Kids Above All Illinois; Summit School Inc.; The Literacy Connection; Three Fires Council-Scouting America; and School District U-46 Educational Foundation.

“This support helps eliminate barriers for families and makes it possible for children with developmental disabilities in our communities to achieve milestones that once felt out of reach,” Theresa Forthofer, president and CEO of Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, the release said.

In addition to funding Elgin- and Dundee-area education-related nonprofit projects, Seigle Foundation focuses on groups involved with the arts, food insecurity and affordable housing. For more information, go to seiglefoundation.org.

AID HOLDING FAMILY FUN EVENT IN ELGIN ON JULY 10

The Association for Individual Development (AID) will hold a family fun event from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Wildwood Commons Apartments, 695 S. State St., Elgin.

The event will include free ice cream, games and other activities for children, according to a social media post by AID. The nonprofit is holding the gathering as a way to introduce the community to the mental health and case management services it provides.
