Two people were charged with concealment of a homicide and dismembering a human body this week after man’s arm was found in Lake Mattoon.
Boaters saw part of the arm with “distinct tattoos” on the evening of June 28, according to Illinois State Police, who shared a public photo of two tattoos, including a skeleton holding a Green Bay Packers helmet, in the hopes of identifying the victim. Later searches found “additional parts of human remains.”
Within days, police shared the victim’s name — 38-year-old Dalewayne Turner, from Plainfield.
ISP’s investigation “quickly identified” 62-year-old Robin Turner and 26-year-old James Adams, also from Plainfield, as potential suspects. After searching Adams’ and Turner’s home in Plainfield, officers found more evidence and arrested the two on July 1.
The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office filed charges the next day, and both are in custody. Will County court records show both Robin Turner and James Adams filed for emergency orders of protection against Dalewayne Turner last spring. Dalewayne did not appear in court either time.
“The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected,” ISP said in a release.
