A shooting at Scoop Waukegan led police to close the festival as authorities investigated the incident and secured the area, the Waukegan Police Department said.
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and that the scene was contained immediately by on-site first responders, who provided medical attention and worked to ensure the safety of festival attendees.
The department said a heavy law enforcement presence already stationed at the festival helped responders quickly secure the area.
Scoop Waukegan was concluded to allow investigators to safely process the scene, police said.
Deputy Chief Craig Neal, the department’s investigations division public information officer, asked the public to stay away from the area of Genesee and Water streets until further notice.
Police did not immediately release additional details about the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or whether any arrests had been made.
The investigation remains active.
