Evanston police are actively investigating the death of an 8-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in her residence Tuesday, Commander Kenneth Carter told Pioneer Press in a statement Wednesday.
The girl was later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Royalt ‘ii Hentz, of the 800 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston.
Evanston police and fire department personnel initially responded to a report of “an unresponsive 8-year-old girl” at approximately 11:36 p.m. on July 14, Carter said in a statement.
Hentz was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston by first responders, where she was later pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. July 15, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Hentz’s cause and manner of death was not listed on the Medical Examiner’s website as of Wednesday afternoon.
Carter said the Evanston Police Department is conducting a death investigation in coordination with the Medical Examiner’s Office, but, “at this time, there is no indication of a threat to the community.”
“The cause and manner of death remain under investigation, and no further information is available for release at this time,” Carter said in a statement.
“Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will not be providing additional comment.”
