A 37-year-old Antioch man was charged with felony retail theft after he allegedly tried to drive off with 45 pieces of lumber from a Geneva hardware store, police said.
Edwin Jurczyk, of 26089 Calhoun Drive, Antioch, was arrested by St. Charles police Friday as he was driving away from the store, police said.
Police said witnesses at the store, in the 500 block of South 3rd Street, identified Jurczyk as the man who loaded $238 worth of 2-by-4s into his truck and then drove away without paying.
Jurczyk was taken to Kane County Jail, where he was released after posting $450, police said.
