A man accused of taking a television set from an enclosed porch of an Elgin home was arrested and charged with residential burglary Saturday afternoon, according to Elgin police. Steve A. Woods, 29, of no known address, was arrested as he carried a 13-inch TV set while walking in the 600 block of St. Charles Street. The TV set was allegedly taken from the front porch of a home in the same block. A door was forced open to enter the porch,
investigators said. Police said they were dispatched to the neighborhood, and several people reported seeing a man carrying off the TV set.
