How do Jim Hendry and Andy MacPhail allow Dusty Baker, who has a great track record as a manager, to twist in the wind for ongoing personnel mistakes not of his making?

If Baker takes the fall for managing a team whose starting rotation largely consists of Triple A- and Double A-level pitchers, it will be a travesty. No, the Cubs don’t have to give up on Kerry Wood or Mark Prior, but only an idiot would continue to build around them year after injury-filled year.

What’s really disappointing is that if Hendry had gone out and obtained two or possibly even one 15-game winner, the Cubs would still be in contention in their division.

Why not just promote everyone from Triple-A Iowa to the parent club next year? Would it matter to most of the people who attend the games?

Dusty Baker is a class act and an excellent manager. Though I would miss him, I hope for his sake he leaves.

The Cubs don’t deserve him.
