A 74-year-old man died Saturday after being struck by a van while riding his bicycle at Cermak Road and Clark Street, Chicago police said.
The van was southbound on Clark and attempted to make a right turn onto Cermak when it hit the cyclist, who was crossing Clark, around 3:40 p.m. Saturday, said Police Officer Amina Greer.
The cyclist, identified as Yao He of the 3100 block of South Parnell Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:26 p.m. in Stroger Hospital.
The driver, Shirley Mitchell-Winton, 55, of the 14300 block of Dorchester Avenue in Dolton, was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and making an improper right turn, Greer said.
